Summer School on Mathematical Philosophy for Female Students

The Munich Center for Mathematical Philosophy is organising the seventh edition of the Summer School on Mathematical Philosophy for Female Students, taking place from July 26 to July 31, 2020, in Munich, and invites applications until 29th March 2020.


This year, we will have the following lecture streams:

1. “Suspension of Belief. Its Nature, Rationality and Logic.”, led by Alexandra Zinke (University of Tübingen)
2. “Emergence and Reduction in Science”, led by Patricia Palacios (University of Salzburg/MCMP)

The summer school is open to women with a keen interest in mathematical philosophy. Applicants should be students of philosophy (or philosophically minded logicians or scientists) at an advanced undergraduate level, in a master program, or at an early PhD level. To apply for participation, please see the instructions at you will need to provide a statement of purpose as part of the application. There will be an opportunity for some of the students at the summer school to present their own research; if you would be interested in doing so, please also provide an abstract (up to 500 words) together with your application.

The deadline for applications is 29th March 2020. Decisions will be made by 15th April 2020.

The participation fee is 200€. (Note that the participation fee does not cover accommodation expenses.) The language of all events will be English.


Students of the Summer School on Mathematical Philosophy for Female Students 2020 are welcome to audit the conference talks of DEON 2020, free of registration. The conference will take place at the MCMP, LMU Munich. We encourage all applicants to check the webpage of the conference.
