Junior Hiring in Philosophy of Physics 2015

UPDATE 1 June 2015: I decided to leave it open and sticky for a few more days, in order to add Josh Norton’s announced appointment, and one more that I hope to be able to announce soon.

UPDATE 27 May 2015: With the announcement that Tom Pashby got hired by Chicago, I will soon close this post and no longer let it stick to the top.

UPDATE 20 April 2015: Please also see the comments. I am particularly thrilled to announce that Chip Sebens has accepted the offer from UCSD, which remains committed to strength in philosophy of physics! This is excellent news for UCSD, but also more great news for Southern California after the announcements that Lehmkuhl has moved to Caltech and that Wallace will move to USC next year.

‘Tis the season again… to start announcing junior hiring in philosophy of physics. Some of the hiring is still in the works, and please let me know if you know of something to post. Here is what is official as of right now:

  • Julia Bursten (Pittsburgh HPS) has been appointed as Assistant Professor at San Francisco State University. AOS: Philosophy of Science, Philosophy of Chemistry, Philosophy of Physics.
  • Elay Shech (Pittsburgh, HPS) has been appointed as Assistant Professor at Auburn University starting August 2015. AOS: Philosophy of Physics, Philosophy of Science, Ethics.
  • Erica Shumener (New York University) has been appointed as Assistant Professor at University of Pittsburgh. AOS: Metaphysics, Philosophy of Science.
